[Trivial] exhibition

Does the word “trivial” ring a bell? 

Frivolous? Commonplace? Superficial? Ordinary? Insignificant? The cracked fingernail? The pair of worn socks? The abandoned can? The passer-by?

... ...

Let’s define it, celebrate it. 
 

The [trivial] exhibition will come in three parts: 

1, [trivial. cities.] 

Images of architectural landmarks immediately pop up in one’s head when a particular city is being referred to. These convenient landmarks, however, are merely making up a very petty portion of a city. What really assimilate into the city space are the trivialities surrounding the individuals and life itself – all those teeny-weeny details which are mundane but unfeigned, seemingly nonsensical but profoundly significant. Here, five photographers ooze out their lenses to the trifles of several different spots on the world map. Bypass the tourist traps and trifle with the trivialities! 

2, [trivial. I.]

“I” – the simplest English alphabet, the 1/6,000,000,000 of the world population, makes up a trivial but lively existence. Five art students studying in Beijing, Hong Kong, London and Sunderland claim their peripheral yet substantial existence in a vivid and confident voice — through fashion, illustrations and oil painting.  

3, [trivial. HK.]

They insist on portraying their distinct versions of Hong Kong, while harboring a shared obsession for the trivia of the land. Five Hong Kong-born artists will open your eyes to their personalized Hong Kong, which can be heard, visualized, caressed, experienced, and remembered.

该如何定义“trivial”这个英文单词？

琐碎的？普通的？浅薄的？不足为道的？一截剪掉的指甲？一双穿破的袜子？一个废弃在路边的易拉罐？擦身而过的路人？

最终愿意把它归于一字：微。

微细，微不足道，然而微妙。

展览三部分：

1，[微。城。]

每当说起一座城市，人们最常也最快想到的是这座城的宏伟地标。

其实所谓地标，只是城市一个微小的组成部分。

无形而强大地占据着一座城市的，却是那些关于人和生活的种种琐碎。

五个摄影师，他们的镜头潜入城市的微细角落；

五座城，它们在影象中呈现平庸琐碎的美好。

2，[微。“我”。]

 “I”是26个英文字母中最简单的.

“我”只是世界人口的六十亿分之一.

“I/我”，微不足道但是真实地存在。

五位分别就读于北京、香港、伦敦和桑德兰的艺术院校的年轻学生，通过她们的时装设计、插画和油画创作，大胆自信地宣扬自我。

3，[微。香港。]

他们坚持各自眼中的香港印象，却对这片土地上的细微情节有着同样的执迷。

他们生于香港长于香港，今日于异城呈现一个属于他们的香港。

一个容你聆听、观望、触摸、感受及记念的香港。

將那些生命注入你的體內，用意並非要你感受動物的足跡，而是想叫你想像一下生命和身體的無限。

 

任何一個平台於我來說都是無邊際的，今次試試用你我都擁有的一副身軀去探索，與你一起看看微不足道的微妙。

 

要是你都想看看你手肘上的那隻小象與我的有多不同，來吧，來讓我為你呈現，然後留下光影之間的景象，一起微，笑。

thought about triviality: Working, eating, shitting, and sex… usually don’t mean much to me.  I don’t need to be awake to do that…  But there are brief times in daily life, when I feel my brain slipping into a dream… That’s when things finally come alive for me. My head spins and my heart slowly begins to beat.  For me, there’s nothing more important than chasing those moments even if they only last for a second.

Just an (other) afternoon

This is an afternoon after the noon. Every day after the noon we have an afternoon. This afternoon we stroll around the city as if it is another afternoon. With the eyes of the other, this looks like an afternoon other than the ordinaries.

An afternoon with the view, does she belong to me? Or does she belong to others?

久藏石屎叢林，忘了窗外明媚之色。

Edine + +

Edine + +, has been working as a full time travel journalist and photographer for a local newspaper in Hong Kong. Sometimes she writes poems and murmurs a song or two. Her music has been released and distributed in Asia and other countries with her band The Marshmallow Kisses. She has also been involved in music production for TV commericals such as the product promotions of JVC and Nike. Recently, she has been conceiving plans to liberate her body and flee to her favorite continent, Europe.

Edine + +日常工作主要為游走於城市與城市之間，時而以文字，時而以照片，紀錄大世界的細碎。

由於思想氾濫成災，只好依靠詩作及音樂抵制。現為香港樂隊The Marshmallow Kisses的主音，曾推出兩張單曲及參與多張雜錦碟，近來作品更被商業品牌如Nike及JVC等選作廣告曲。

作品创作灵感来源--

俄罗斯套娃，都有着美丽的大眼睛、丰富的色彩和图案，把原本笨拙淳朴的造型衬托出一种具有俄罗斯风情的华丽……

面料上主要是以俄罗斯羊羔毛、蕾丝花边、丝缎为主，其中俄罗斯羊羔毛是贯穿整个系列服装的面料，它具有比较显著的俄罗斯风情。
